BNC RF Adapters – BNC stands for Bayonet Neill-Concelman. The BNC is a quick-connect RF coaxial connector that uses a bayonet-style coupling rather than a threaded coupling. A short push and twist locks the connector in place, making BNC connectors convenient where connections are frequently made and removed.
BNC connectors are widely used on RF test equipment, oscilloscopes, signal generators, receivers, scanners, antennas, communications equipment, video equipment, and many other coaxial applications. They are most commonly encountered in 50 Ohm and 75 Ohm versions. The correct impedance should be used when maintaining RF or video system impedance is important.

BNC adapters are useful for connecting equipment and coaxial cables that use different RF connector families without replacing the existing connector or cable.
When selecting a BNC adapter, identify the connector type and gender required on both sides. As with any RF adapter, adding an adapter introduces another mechanical and electrical interface into the transmission line. At lower frequencies this is often insignificant, but as frequency increases, adapter quality, impedance consistency, VSWR, and insertion loss become increasingly important. For demanding RF applications, use the correct adapter for the connector interfaces and frequency involved and avoid unnecessary adapter combinations.
