Connectors - Crimp Ferrules
RF Connector Crimp Ferrules ā Crimp ferrules secure the coaxial cable braid or shield to the connector body on many crimp-style RF connectors.
A replacement ferrule must fit both the coaxial cable and the particular connector design. Cable type alone does not guarantee that a ferrule is correct. Connector manufacturers may use different ferrule wall thicknesses, inside diameters, lengths and required crimp dimensions even when the connectors are designed for the same coax cable.
The hex crimp dimensions listed below are useful nominal reference sizes, not universal specifications. When replacing a lost or damaged ferrule, compare the original connector dimensions whenever possible and verify the required crimp size for the specific connector.
An incorrect ferrule or crimp dimension can produce a loose shield connection, damage the cable or connector, or provide poor mechanical retention.
