Tools - RF Connector

RF Connector & Coaxial Cable Tools — This section contains tools used to prepare coaxial cable and install RF connectors, including crimp tools, interchangeable crimp dies, coax strippers, cable cutters and compression tools.

When selecting a crimp tool, match the actual crimp-cavity dimensions required by the connector, not merely the cable name printed on the tool or die. Connectors designed for the same cable family may require different ferrule or center-contact crimp dimensions.

Many interchangeable dies fit a particular crimp-frame pattern, but mechanical fit in the frame does not by itself guarantee that the die cavities are correct for the connector being installed.

Coaxial cable strippers should also be matched to the cable diameter and required strip dimensions. Always check the connector installation dimensions before setting adjustable stripping tools.

The hex sizes shown below are common nominal ferrule sizes and are provided as a selection aid rather than a universal connector specification.

HEX Crimp Die Sizes* for FERRULES for common RF Cables:
.429" - LMR-400, RG-8/11/213/214, Belden 8214/9913
.255" - LMR-240, RG-6/8X/59/62/223
.213" - LMR-195/200, RG-58/142/400
.178" - LMR-100/110, RG-174/178/188/196
*The hex sizes shown are nominal sizes, the user should always inquire if it is not known what size crimp is needed from the manufacturer of the connector. Connectors in this day and time do unfortunately vary in size.
The majority of our brand center RF pins are designed to be soldered and not crimped.
