Type F (TV Cable) RF Adapters

This section contains RF adapters that have a Type F, commonly called a TV cable connector, on one side. Type F adapters are used to connect coaxial cables or equipment having a Type F connector to another RF connector type.

The Type F connector is a 75 Ohm coaxial connector commonly used for television, cable TV, satellite, antenna and other video or RF applications. It is most often found on RG-6 and RG-59 coaxial cable and uses a 3/8"-32 UNEF coupling thread.

Unlike many RF connector designs, the male Type F connector normally uses the center conductor of the coaxial cable itself as the center contact. This provides a simple, economical connector with good performance for its intended applications.

Important: Type F connectors can look similar to SMA connectors, but they are different connector families with different thread sizes and mating dimensions. Type F and SMA connectors will not properly mate and should not be forced together.

When selecting a Type F adapter, verify the connector type and male or female gender required on each side. Also consider the impedance of the complete RF system when adapting between 75 Ohm Type F and connector families commonly used in 50 Ohm systems.
