I am confused, is it Male or Female or Plug and Jack on some of these specialized connectors?

It is a good question, one that actually many sellers do not understand. Most of our common connectors such as UHF, N, etc will follow the convention of male or female and it is easy to understand and see.

However, on the specialized connectors such as MC, MCX, MMCX, SMB and SMC to name a few, there is not such thing as a male or female designation.

Welcome to the world of Plug and Jack!

The connector called the Plug will have a female basket and the connector called the Jack will have a male center pin.

Just look inside the connector, if you see a male or sharp pointed RF pin, it is a jack. If you see what the industry calls a female basket, it is a plug.

Be careful when ordering, some sellers do not know or care. Some of those folks will call it a male female plug jack all in one breath to cover all the bases. Yep, for real.
